The EFCL & FLA 2026 Conference in London, held on Friday, June 12th, brought together leading professionals to delve into the critical theme of "From Strategic Litigation to the Boundaries of Abuse".
The conference provided a comprehensive exploration of corporate crime in the modern world from international perspectives, offering invaluable insights into the evolving legal and enforcement landscape. Attendees gained strategic perspectives on the role of lawyers as ethical gatekeepers, understanding the complex professional and ethical demands placed on legal practitioners today. A significant portion of the discussions was dedicated to asset recovery and forfeiture across Europe, closely examining the challenges of non-conviction-based asset forfeiture and UK mechanisms.
Furthermore, the keynote sessions added immense gravity and depth to the programme. Attendees heard a compelling address from HHJ Geoffrey Rivlin KC on "The Courts Bill a Really Serious Fraud?", alongside an authoritative overview of UK asset recovery delivered by Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for the CPS Proceeds of Crime Division. These presentations highlighted the shifting statutory, judicial, and financial battlegrounds currently facing cross-border practitioners.
The modern offices of A&O Shearman at One Bishops Square served as the perfect backdrop for this event. Located in the vibrant heart of London, the venue provided an inspiring, state-of-the-art atmosphere for high-level legal discussions, which concluded with a panoramic drinks reception on the firm's spectacular 10th-floor rooftop.
The conference culminated in a delightful evening reception at Boundary Shoreditch. Situated in London’s trendiest creative district, this unique setting offered a fantastic opportunity for networking and continued conversations against the iconic backdrop of East London's bustling streets.
We extend our sincere thanks to all speakers, attendees, and partners who contributed to the success of this insightful and engaging event. See you in June 2027 in Frankfurt!
